Austin Butler makes a fool of himself
At a party, Austin Butler was nervous about dancing.
Someone1 noticed and told him something Austin wouldn’t forget:
“Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion. Go out there and make a fool of yourself.”
Butler spent three years becoming Elvis Presley for a film. After it came out, people made fun of him for still sounding like Elvis. Even months later.
“When people talk about something as personal as your voice, it makes me go, ‘Wait, am I not… am I not being authentic?’”
But he remembered the advice he was once given and knew he had to:
“Go for it. Feel that feeling — the fear of cringe, and go out there and do it.”
“Because everything you want is on the other side of that.”
